painting

In recent years I have started painting large abstracts using oils. I have fallen in love with oils. They are creamy, lustrous and open up possibilities of such subtlety and richness. The long drying time also makes for a sensuous, absorbing painting experience. I am still finding my feet with them, although, in the last year or two, I have begun to feel a real affinity for the work I am creating.

In earlier years I used gouache and ink, or acrylics. I still use these mediums and enjoy them, particularly for more illustrative paintings or for a faster process.

I am currently painting a series of landscape-inspired abstract oil paintings that I intend to exhibit next year. I'll keep you posted.
