what am I up to?

Throughout December and most of January, I have concentrated on working on my Masters project, Aurora, an illustrated novella. I have made a great deal of progress with a lot yet to do.
I am now designing and proofreading a graphic novel being published by Playlab Press, The Pipe Manager, Lisa O’Neill, XTN and Peter Berkahn, with original sound composition by Guy Webster. I saw the performance of the work at the Brisbane Powerhouse last year and I am very excited to be working on such a cutting-edge project.
Next, I am booked in to edit two textbooks for John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd. More information about these coming soon.

The last few months have been chock-a-block.
I have designed, typeset and proofread another round of plays for Playlab Press: The Dark Room by Angela Betzien, Oodgeroo by Sam Watson, and The Forwards and The Apology by Stefo Nantsou. I have also designed, typeset and proofread La Boite - The Story of an Australian Theatre Company by Christine Comans, and I am in the process of proofreading a human resources textbook by John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.
I re-branded the Mental Health Association QLD (MHAQ), including their Australian College of Community Services (ACCS), plus their mhConnect, mhLearn and mhParticipate divisions. I also have branded Universal Accommodation Centres Pty Ltd (UAC) - a company that provides single person accommodation, particularly in the mining sector; Nuovo Mondo - an import/export company; and Inner Colour - where it is all about colour. I will upload links to their websites soon.
I have also had photography successes with photos appearing in various publications, plus another front cover - Issue 2 of The Organic Way. Lots of photography for Mondo Organics - you can see some of the photos on their website www.mondo-organics.com.au

After a fabulous adventure in New Zealand in early June, I came back to a bunch of exciting projects. Currently, I am in the process of re-branding the Mental Health Association QLD, designing a website and other material for TopCat Constructions, designing a website for Connexus - a shipping container company, designing promotional goods for RealCorp International, plus continuing with my writing, illustration and painting. Phew!

Art: I have started a new series of abstract oil paintings, in view of an exhibition later this year. Yesterday, I finished the first, a fiery landscape. I'll keep you posted.
Design & Editing: Two more plays for Playlab Press were sent to the printer on Monday - The Matilda Women by Sue Rider and 25 Down by Richard Jordan, both great plays. I had the pleasure of proofreading and designing both books, which will hit the shelves in a couple of weeks.
Photography: I shot a wedding in May on the beautiful clifftops of Newcastle. A wonderful weekend and the photos are testament to a glorious day. Congratulations Saffron and Daynan.
Writing and Illustration: I am continuing work on the project for my masters, Aurora. Lots of pen and ink illustrations underway.

I have finished proofreading and designing three new books for Playlab Press: The Kursk by Sasha Janowicz, Gods of Spicy Things & Tiptoe by Sue Hayes and Michael Beresford, and The White Earth & Bait by Andrew McGahan and Shaun Charles. One of my food photographs appeared on the front cover of the food issue of recent WellBeing magazine. I have a few great new clients and I am working with my fabulous long-standing clients on some projects, plus I am embarking on proofreading accounting textbooks for Wiley. A very busy period indeed and I am grateful for the volume of work.

What a busy month! I have been editing a textbook for John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd: "Employment Relations in Australia". What an interesting read! I am now editing, designing and compositing another three books for Playlab Press - five great plays (in three volumes) that I will list on my website as soon as they are published. I am also doing the odd photographic job, design for newsletters and brochures, and a website or two (I'll let you know when they are live). Squeezing in my illustration and writing around the edges at the moment - loving every minute of it.

Almost finished writing, illustrating and designing a children's picture book. It joins an already completed picture book on direct route to the publishers next week. Fingers crossed!

I am currently working on the next round of Playlab plays to be published in August: The Ghost Writer by Ross Mueller; The Narcissist by Stephen Carleton; Embers by Campion Decent; and Kitchen Diva by Norman Price. All great plays. I am doing the graphic design, layout and proofreading of all four plays. A big yet satisfying job.

The Pure Food Cooking website is now live! Pure Food Cooking is an exciting new venture for chef extraordinaire, Dominique Rizzo. I did the photography and designed the website - another website using Excite Media's great content management system; Dominique updates the photos and text whenever she likes.

I am graphic designing and proofreading all of the plays that are being published by Playlab in 2008. I finished the first lot last week - 7 plays in four books - to be launched at the National Play Festival at the Brisbane Powerhouse this Saturday. Exciting stuff!
The exhibition at RAW SPACE is still showing in the corporate foyer, underneath the Stockland building.

The exhibition at RAW SPACE launching the new corporate foyer project space is up until 2 January 2008!
